Guy With Funny Hat

Buccaneer

…the key to all good comedy… a funny hat…

Last Saturday was a beautiful morning, so I jumped out of bed, ran outside, fired up the garden tiller, and broke it. Then I got two safety recalls in the mail. Apparently my dishwasher can spontaneously combust and burn my house down at any moment and I am to discontinue using it immediately. The other was from my car company telling me I had a faulty flux capacitor in my Mazda Tribute and that it needed prompt attention. I had about an hour to kill on Monday as I waited for my car appointment, so I cranked up the Wacom and did this little picture. It’s a guy in a funny hat.

…that certainly did seem to be a complicated way to say I did a picture of a guy in a funny hat… I will try to do better next time.

Cool hat illustrations always need good commentary.

Doug Jones

I saw the new Pirates movie and one thing I kept thinking about was all the shapes of the hats. They are all basically the same, but folded up differently. This is why I was totally lost, plot wise. There are so many secret deals going on with all the characters… I just gave up and watched the special effects… which were cool.

Dennis Jones

…that’s how I watched the second Pirate movie… I had no idea what was going on, I just watched a bunch of interesting characters doing kinda interesting stuff…

Don Jones

I’m running behind on the pirate movies… as well as the Shrek movies… But I am up-to-date on Ocean’s 11 & 12.

Dennis Jones

…I couldn’t follow the second Oceans movie any better than I could follow the second Pirates movie… I haven’t seen any of the Shreks yet, but from previous learning I’m betting the second one is probably hard to follow…

Marceleza from brasil!!

and so they are finishing the third Shrek…they are going to make more “15” of those pirates, they did the sixth Rocky Balboa, and they are about to release the fourth Rambo…what its going on???

Dennis Jones

…no one has any new ideas…

Doug Jones

I’m still waiting for Napoleon Dynamite 2

Home For The Summer

…mom in a head lock…

PetesHome2

…took over basement…

PetesHome3

…vandalized work table…

My youngest son, Pete, is home from college. He will be doing an internship this summer with a company here in town. He’s only been home for a couple of weeks, but he’s already taken over the basement, strung up lights and turned it into his own private recording studio. He puts his mother in head locks when she tries to give him motherly advice and leaves messages for me on the work bench with spray paint.

He must take after his mother.

… kids these days… what can I say?

Doug Jones

Hey… Don’s Skaggs page has been up sooo long the comments section closed…

Dennis Jones

…good to see he’s taking his job as Official Brother Jones Opening Page Greeter seriously…

Don Jones

I did sort of feel bad about Ricky’s overextended stay but I just ignored the old blog for a couple of days and VOILA! it then turned into a week. Sort of like the weeds I ignore in our flower beds. I’m confident thousands of our visitors enjoyed those pictures… each and every day.

Dennis Jones

…hey, we bought you that little blue store greeter vest because we expect you to be on the job every day, rain or shine, greeting our valued internet guests with a friendly “hello” and a fresh web page to look at… if you don’t get your act together soon we might have to take away your smiley face button…

Doug Jones

can I be the official greeter now? I’m getting tired of stocking the shelves…

Don Jones

Doesn’t your page go “live” on the third shift Doug? Around midnight or so I was thinking… Perhaps we should add complimentary hand sanitizer for our visitors on my blog site.

Dennis Jones

…we match all of our internet competitors prices here at Brother Jones… just bring one of their coupons in to our service desk for the match… with Don up front working as greeter and Doug stocking shelves, I’ve been stranded here running the customer service desk for months now, so believe me, I’d be happy to put a match to the competitors coupons for you…

Don Jones

“We sell for less ‘cause it’s made in Bangladesh!” Our Uncle Melvin coined that phrase.

Dennis Jones

…we use it as the catch phrase on the big neon Brother Jones sign that hangs in front of our Corporate Headquarters…

Don Jones

Seeing Peter’s Basement Studio has got me pumped. Is he taking bookings for recordin’ sessions? Have him check this site out… songpull.com

Dennis Jones

…hey Don, why dont you get that Keegan character to build some sort of dealie into our sight where we can upload our own custom music mp3’s to entertain each other with…

Don Jones

That’s what Pure Volume is for… our non-franchised Brother Jones musical group sites.

Flying Sock Monkey

June 11, 2007

FlyingSocMo1FlyingSocMo2

Those creepy flying monkeys in the Wizard Of Oz really freaked me out when I was a kid so they eventually had to become a subject for me to explore with socks.

The Comments

Don Jones

CREeeeePy. I love those two-tone eyeballs and the assorted teeth make this one scary minkey.

Doug Jones

Great monkey! Hey… I’m ready to attend the Dennis Jones sock creature making workshop. What are the dates on that again?…

Dennis Jones

…I believe my staff is currently taking reservations for the 1st Annual SocMo High Stakes Invitational Sewing Clinic to be held later this summer in southwest Missouri…

Doug Jones

I’ll be there. Is the theme of this years’ clinic “Sock it to me?”

Don Jones

I smell SockAPaLooZa 2007 in the plen aire.

Nick Jones Everybody

Looks like a good housewarming gift to me….

Dennis Jones

…flying monkeys don’t like hot tubs… will this be a problem at your house?

Don Jones

Is Nick soaking in hot tubs now? He is living the life of luxury… high on the hog…golf every afternoon… steak every night…

Dennis Jones

…that’s all about to change…

Don Jones

Has Nick joined the French Foreign Legion?

Dennis Jones

…Nick is supposed to close on a house on friday… he might have been better off joining the French Foreign Legion… they make some mighty fine toast… and fries…

Nick Jones Everybody

The hot tub is a go for sure. You need to start making waterproof sock monkeys….

Don Jones

Congratulations are in order all around! As a house warming gift…. there’s a couple of Brother Jones cardboard coasters for you Nick if you wanna come get ‘em.

Dennis Jones

…REAL cardboard coasters, Eddie?

…only the best, Clark…

Don Jones

and get yourself a little something while you’re at it …

Nick Jones Everybody

Excellent, they will work well on the party porch. Maybe I’ll pick them up next month and watch a little Fed Up Cup action…

Don Jones

Watch?!! Bring your sticks and play… (provided you buy enough points and snacks for everybody.)

Dennis Jones

…you definitely would see action at the Fed Up Cup, just not very much golf…

Don Jones

The golf plays second fiddle to the eating and bad jokes.

Dennis Jones

…my golf game is really lacking good snacks…

Don Jones

It continually amazes me how your single weekly posts rack up 20+ comments. We need to move you to the Jones Mart greeter position… and fast.

Doug Jones

I’ve done a pretty good job of keeping my shelves stocked this week… how a bout a raise?

Dennis Jones

…Doug, …cleanup in isle 9 …chop, chop…

Don Jones

Because they have played for over 20 years and still STINK. But on the other hand… they also tend to over eat and swing with a really tight stomach.

SMS You

MeFreshman

…a bright eyed, SMSU college freshman…

MeSophmore

…one year of quality SMSU education later…

Mom and Dad sent all six of their kids through Southwest Missouri State University. I went through in the mid 70’s. I made it into the yearbook my freshman year… barely made it into the yearbook my sophomore year… and then didn’t seem to make it into any yearbooks after that…

I’m happy that there’s a photographic record to verify that I did indeed attended college… because I seem to have lost my diploma… and trying to convince people that I am college educated seems to be a really hard sell these days.

The Comments

Doug Jones

You went to college? Hmmm…. I thought you went from high school straight to your job as a Mongolian yak herder…

Don Jones

Who in their right mind would believe our Dad was a barber?

Doug Jones7

Dennis has been keeping a really big secret. He has actually starred in GEICO TV commercials….

Dennis Jones

…I did herd Mongolian yak for a couple of weeks between high school and college… lucky for me it was during that brief period of time that a big time Hollywood talent scout discovered me and landed the Geico Caveman TV gig for me…

BlueDog1

…sit, Blue, sit… good boy…

BlueDog2

…roll over, Blue, roll over… atta boy… good job…

BlueDog3

…whoa, come back here, Blue… uhm… good dog…

I got a new dog. I’m teaching him some tricks. He’s really smart. I think he has a diploma from SMSU. The good thing about Little Blue is that he’s such a low maintenance dog… which is pretty much what I’m looking for at this point in life.

The Comments

Doug Jones

I like that wooly texture on old Blue. He must have eaten a lot of that cheap, Chinese dog food to round off his teeth like that… How many hours did it take to make him?

Don Jones

I’d trade our high maintenance Lola on this little feller in a snap! I like that hot pink tongue.

Keegan Jones

Seriously, that is awesome. I’d buy one. Time to open up the Brother Jones chinese manufacturing plant.

Don Jones

I don’t think that is made out of socks. I suspect your lovely wife is missing a sweater or something.

Dennis Jones

…hey, I’m checking in from Grand Rapids, Michigan… NickJonesEverybody was up here filming some big hooha, so I drove up to see him and let him fix my laptop which I had kinda messed up… I also let him set up some FTP software I needed and then let him show me how it worked… after that I let him buy me dinner… and let him share his hotel room with me… man, when is that kid going to quit depending on me for everything…

Don Jones

That made me laugh… The Jones Brothers are pathetic… thankyouverymuch.

Doug Jones

It seems that the next generation Joneses are the Geek Squad for BrotherJones. it’s a good thing…

Don Jones

That is a correct analysis Ouglas. I am happy to report I lost my keys at work yesterday… After about an hour of searching i found them in an upper cabinet where I keep paper and books. Can you say early signs of dementia?

From the dementia website: Things to look for: Memory loss- Repeating the same thing over and over- Difficulty naming items- Losing things or getting lost more often (DING DING DING… we have a winner!) You may also see changes in the way they behave. These changes may become more pronounced with time. Your loved one may have a hard time with other tasks: Using the phone (I can’t figure them out anymore) Dressing appropriately ( I wear plaid and stripes together… is this a problem?) Planning or preparing meals (I have SlimFast with Ho Ho’s) Playing a game (You already know about my golf game…)

Dennis Jones

…I’m back from Michigan… while there I noticed a fabric store having a sale and found the thread I use for sock animals on sale for half price so I got five spools and went to the checkout counter where the lady says, “what do you do with all this upholstery thread?” and I said, “I sew up animals” and she said, “well, I guess you need pretty strong thread to do that”…

Don Jones

She thought you were a vet.

Doug Jones

Dennis fought in the big war…

Dennis Jones

…then I wandered into the Salvation Army Store across the street and asked the lady in there if they had any socks… she glanced around the store once and said, “I don’t know… I don’t work here”…

Don Jones

I’m telling you all, it’s dementia setting in.
I’m telling you all, it’s dementia setting in.

Dennis Jones

…then I went into a comic shop and found a comic I kinda liked but had never heard of before so I asked the guy running the store if he knew anything about this new comic and he said, “only that I don’t care for it at all”… oh… thanks so much for your help…

Roballoo

Did the Salvation Army Store have any ties? Great dogie btw, but does it prove you’ve been watching too many episodes of Blue’s Clues?

Jeff

I think we will someday see Dennis Jones Sock animals on Antique Roadshow.. This one will be from his “Blue Period” HA!
