On Frozen Pond

January 4, 2010

Icefishing1Icefishing2Icefishing3

…so I look out my window on Saturday and there’s a buncha guys fishing on the pond next to my house. I almost never saw that when I lived in Texas…

The Comments

Don Jones

IT’s a KEEpER! I sure hope you dug out your Snoopy rod and joined in the fun…

Dennis Jones

…Don, can you recognize the type of fish that guy pulled outa the pond? He didn’t even use one of your patented lures to do it!

Don Jones

Is that a CRAPPY fish?

Dennis Jones

…you are absolutely correct, sir…

Doug Jones

It’s much easier to go to the store and buy some frozen fish. But I guess SOME people just like to sit around on buckets on frozen ponds for kicks… go figure…

Dennis Jones

…uhm, I think those fish were pretty much frozen solid as soon as they came up outa the water, Doug… and come on now, who doesn’t enjoy sitting on a bucket on a frozen pond in sub-zero weather…

Doug Jones

uh… that would be me. I prefer the South where we sit around on buckets and watch kudzu grow on things.

Don Jones

Those aren’t rods… they’re FISH STICKS!

Dennis Jones

…the guy with the fish is not smiling… that fish was biting his thumb really hard and that’s actually a grimace… or maybe a Mayor McCheese…

Jeff

Dennis, you are right, about not seeing this type of thing in Texas. When it gets really cold in the United States of Texas, we stay in where its warm. Besides our Crappy make that little guy look like bait.

Mini Sewing Machine

January 5, 2010

MiniSew1MiniSew2

Karen got me a tiny little sewing machine for Christmas, this is the very first thing I sewed with it and, needless to say, I’m pretty darn proud of it…

The Comments

Nik

Nice. You’ll be the next Jim Henson and have your own shows.

Don Jones

If I am reading between the lines here, Karen got sick and tired of you messing up her machine. Am I right?

Dennis Jones

…nope, I’ve never run any kind of a sewing machine in my life… you would never know it looking at my first try though…

Doug Jones

I think we could sell those things! Just give it a snazzy name and put it it the BroJo store @ $9.99 each.

Dennis Jones

…and that would be the one and only thing you could find for sell in our current Brother Jones Store…

Don Jones

I’m thinking it has to be trendy and cutting edge… how about iSewn, the finger-tip massager?

Doug Jones

darn… I had a great comment that disappeared! I must have answered the question wrooonng

Dan Lietha

I’ve been waiting for a Dennis Jones report on your fantasy football results for this season. Many weeks ago you said I should stick with QB Matt Schaub and I took your advice … and I WON the championship game in my league! So some credit for this successful season for me goes to assistant coach Jones. You can come down to Kentucky and pick up your award anytime.

Dennis Jones

…hooHOO! Congratulations! Schaub is an awesome fantasy quarterback… and not bad in real life, either.

…3 teams (me being one of them) in my league had the best records going into the playoffs of 9-4. Unfortunately one was in my division and beat me during the season, so they went to the playoffs while I played in the consolation tournament (which I won). So the winner of our league ultimately had an 11-4 record and I came in 5th place with an 11-4 record…

…will the Vikings falter at the end of the season as usual? Can the Colts turn it back on after turning it off for 4 weeks? …should be an interesting postseason…

Jeff

Your sewing project is sooo, Pink and very,,,,, wow look at the time..

Don Jones

Dennis is all about color coordination.
Pink is the new black. I don’t know the meaning of that but have heard in the halls.

roballoo!

think of that pink thingy as abstract art and you may have something.

Chimpmo

Chimpmo1Chimpmo2

Socmo meet Chimpmo… Chimpmo, Socmo…

The Comments

Doug Jones

looks like Chimpmo has bendable arms, cool!

Dennis Jones

…I got the head finished, decided, thats enough of this, sewed arms on it and pronounced it a finished product. Pretty much how I do my flat art, too…

Jeff

make sure Socmo don’t start marking up the carpet..

Dennis Jones

…turf war…

Don Jones

Looks like Chimpmo does a little Mary Kay… beautiful.

Dennis Jones

…I personally thought he put his lipstick on a little heavy for this picture, but what do I know?…

Doug Jones

nice mohawk… reminds me of Mr. T

Dennis Jones

…whatchu tokkin’ ‘bout, foo!?

Nik

Awesome.Jim Henson would be proud.

Don Jones

Did you note Mr. T was a character in the CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS flick?

Dennis Jones

…I didn’t see CloudyWithaChanceOfMeatballs… I saw a grand total of 2 movies this year… Star Trek and Avatar… both good…

Don Jones

My TO SEE list includes Dark Knight, Blind Side, Star Trek and MANY MORE …. I’m saving most of these for retirement.

Nik

I’m not Treky but Star Trek was a great movie. Dark Knight is cool,I just wish it ended better

Daniel In The Lion’s Den

January 8, 2010

DanielRoughDanielCover

I finished up two more covers for the book series I’m currently working on. The editors want three cover ideas to pick and chose ideas from for each book. They chose elements from the first and second rough for this particular cover. I took some shots of this work in progress and made a mini-movie which you can see in my comment section below.

You can see a larger version of this here on Vimeo.

The Comments

Don Jones

This has special impact for me… I’m right in the thick of Beth Moore’s DANIEL Bible study… me and my girlfriends.

Doug Jones

I’d like the number for the lion’s hairdresser, please…

Dennis Jones

Q: Why don’t lions eat comedians?
A: They taste funny.

Jeff

I have the other version of Daniel, the one where the angel is holding the lions mouth shut, I love that one.

The Weasel Has Landed

TaTonkaEngine2

I’m back in the country and happy to report that I was not involved in any sort of international incident this time… ok… there’s a tiny little video that goes along with this picture in my comments area below…

The Comments

Doug Jones

… but international incidents are so much fun!

Dennis Jones

…for everybody listening to your stories about them maybe… not so much when you’re smack dab in the middle of one…

Jeff

I have been watching 24, I can give ya good advice on how to get out of these “Sticky Situations”..

Dennis Jones

…well Jeff, as you know, we frequently have to call on Jack for help around here…

Nik

Awesome! That horse is really depressed.

Jeff

Yes but when Jack helps, Peeps get dead.. Why cant he just do something smoothly and slip away without killin someone??

Dennis Jones

…there’s nothing worse than watching Jack work over a Peep that’s been duck taped to a rickety old chair inside a dark cold warehouse deep in the inner city somewhere…

Doug Jones

That is on page one of the Jack Bauer playbook. But this time someone used it on him. Of course in 5 minutes he was fully recovered… and it takes me a whole WEEK to recover from a cold…

Jeff

We are nearing that time of year that all Christians love, but all PEEPS fear. Yes the Easter holiday. It is during this week that over 75% of all peeps loose their life to marshmallow bloated kiddies and basket raiding parents. The PEEPS need a man like JACK.

Dennis Jones

Jeff

Last year the Purple Peep was almost consumed to the point of extinction. Let us not forget that the Naugahyde craze of 1973 virtually destroyed the worlds population of Naugas. The rush on bowling alley furniture alone killed off the Avacado green nauga. If only Jack was around then to help those poor gentle woodland creatures.

Nik

We got word of Spartaweaselcus, I think he might be a great ally for Jack.

Jeff

Yes,, Jack and Spartaweaselcus..Working together for the good of the PEEPS,, Are you keeping up with our rantings Dennis??

Dennis Jones

…can’t talk now… mouth fulla peeps…

Jeff

I guess that rules you out for the Save The Peeps spokesman position..

Jeff

I do hear that Peeps are delicious when you melt them with a chocolate Kiss.

Nik

Yea,and make a Peeps Smores!

Jeff

I guess the N.F.L’s cash for clunkers program did not pay off this year..Sorry Bret. Go Coats

Nik

Congrats to the Saints first Super Bowl!

Esaulov Ilya

Excellent works! Very to be pleasant. I watch your creativity, I am inspired! Thanks big!:)

Kev_Brett

I LOVE your work!! So much so I want the See with me Bible for me – and I’m 32!!! Thanks!

Go Coats!

January 27, 2010

ColtHorsie

In honor of the Indinaplits Coats winning their second Super Bowl in four years, I am posting a “How To Paint An Indinaplits Coat” video. Just follow this easy tutorial and in no time, you will be painting Indinaplits Coats with the best of ‘em…

You can see a small version of this video in my comment section below, or a larger, better version on my Vimeo page.

The Comments

Don Jones

This gets me pumped for the big game! Let the Coats Tailgating begin…

Dennis Jones

…need I remind you, Don, of the Dennis Jones Championship Mojo!?

Nik

WOW!I bet if the NFL saw this they would like to make Colts shirts with this on it.

Doug Jones

good videeeO. So Peyton is gonna whup up on those poor, hurricane ravaged Saints? The big bully…

Dan Lietha

Awesome video Dennis! Helps take a bit of the sting away from the Vikings loss … a “bad, bad dream”. GO COLTS!

Dennis Jones

…Dan, I believe I could hear you groaning all the way up here as Favre single handedly yanked a defeat out of a sure victory with that last pass of his career…

Jon Slone

Favre will go down in history as a profesional throw-it-to-the-guy-on-the-other-team kinda quarterback! Go Colts!!!!!

Jeff

I am still saving for my graphics tablet, For now I will have to try one with my airbrush..Overlook the big star on his helmet.

Dennis Jones

…well, it’s out… the long awaited Apple DIGITAL TABLET!!!

Dennis Jones

Don Jones

Steve Jobs could almost pass as a Jones brother…

Dan Lietha

If you haven’t already watched the iPad Keynote presentation from yesterday on the Apple site, go there and zoom ahead in the presentation to 42:22. The app “Brushes” is demonstrated. Very cool!

Dennis Jones

…my problem is that what I was hoping this would be a drawing slate with a touch screen that had about 3000 degrees on sensitivity… in other words a tiny little Cintiq… which this was never going to be…

…the Brushes program is nice, but painting with my fingers frustrates me… I would like to do more with a portable drawing slate than just play around and kill time with it…

…so I guess I will just continue to wait and hope for Wacom to get into this market with an actual PORTABLE Cintiq style computer tablet…

Jeff

I don’t know Dennis, maybe it could help you take your famous “exhaustive” notes during sermons..

Dan Lietha

I agree with your take on the iPad Dennis. Keep in mind this is version 1 and 3rd party manufacturers have come out with a stylus for the iPhone and iPod Touch so the same will likely happen for the iPad. Levels of sensitivity is another issue that hopefully Apple will improve.

C H WYATT

not a colts fan, but love the art.
