This is another one of my little “screen capture” movies I recorded a few weeks back. It was an effort to show my entire Photoshop workspace, but combined with the huge loss of compression that takes place when you upload to YouTube, it turned into a grainy, hard to see mess. Perhaps when my kids are home over Christmas, my film producer son can show me the proper settings to use on one of these things. I’m pretty sure right now I have the video program I use set on idiot mode…

You can see the YouTube video here.

Aghhh….kidz home for Christmas! I never seen it coming ( so soon ) but with my 50th in the rear view now and with our 14 month old Grandson walkin’ and squakin’ I’m so ready to see all the kids home for Christmas too! sniff, sob. PTL -gotta go watch a Jones Toon-Tube now.

Doug Jones

enjoyed the studio tour.. did something blow up while you were filming this?

Dennis Jones

…yes, my credibility as a serious filmmaker…

Don Jones

I think the grain is a nice effect… the intro had a sci-fi, thriller feel to it.

Doug Jones

Yeah… let’s get more suspense, drama, and special effects into these videos. We need to win an Oscar here on BrotherJones.

Dennis Jones

…I was really hoping to win something with this film at Sundance this year… but with the unfortunate motorcycle wreck at the start of this movie, I don’t think it’s going to happen now…

Doug Jones

I’ll put in a good word for you with Bobby Redford. I’m sure he can get you a spot this year. Remember… dress warm!

Texnick

Great vid and work. Action is something that seems to be of a demand, the Governator might be of some interest in this.

Don Jones

I would rather put this in the running for a Pulitzer.

Dennis Jones

…is that some sorta tractor pull trophy?

Doug Jones

I think it is some kind of chicken… but I’m not sure…

Don Jones

Whatever it is… I hear it’s a PRIZE!

Dennis Jones

…I could really go for a little cashew pulitzer from China Grove right about now…

Bernard

Not sure about the Cashews from China Grove but listening to the Doobies on the treadmill is worth an easy extra .5 on the speed setting!

Don Jones

Ironically, I was just talking about “Skunk” Baxter with someone yesterday. Vintage Takin’ It To The Streets guitarist and Nuclear Defense consultant.

Dennis Jones

…it’s still hard for me to believe the lead guitarist for Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers has been partially responsible for our nuclear defense for the past several years…

Bernard

yeah…just make sure you don’t lose that number or you’ll be reeling in those years.

Texnick

I would like to learn how to play the guitar, maybe I’ll just stick with the rubber-band fer now.

Bernard

er, uh, excuse Texnick, sir, but this is a “Learn How TO Paint Like The Jones Bros.” (and then still not be able to) site. The: “Learn How To Play The Guitar Like The Jones Bros.” (and then still not be able to) site is currently for sale on eBay.

Texnick

Ah,I had my lines crossed…

Playing Guitar Hero

January 6, 2009

GuitarHero

A lot of people spent the holidays playing Guitar Hero… I did, too… except I had a real live guitar and played in front of a real live crowd at a winter youth retreat. OK, OK, I was probably more of a guitar zero than a guitar hero, but it was still a lot of fun. This is the only picture I could get my hands on from the event. It’s kinda out of focus, but then again, so were our songs.

Don Jones

I thought this was the Doobie Brothers at first glance and you were Skunk Baxter. Will the “LIVE” concert recordings be available any time soon?

Dennis Jones

…I remember being at a Doobie Brothers concert back when Skunk Baxter first came over to them from Steely Dan… he sat on a stool the entire concert and just riffed thru all the songs…
