Trophy Rolls Into Town

ColtsCaptains

…ready to rumble…

As their way of saying, “thank you Dennis for helping us win the Super Bowl this year”, the Colts brought the Lombardi Trophy to Huntington last Saturday. Hoosiers lined up for miles to get their picture taken next to the trophy. Since it looks pretty much exactly the same live as it looks on tv, I opted out of standing in line, jumped into the back of the gym, snapped a long distance shot and headed on home… before anyone could catch me and tell me I couldn’t do that. Yes, I suppose I could have made a grand entrance, gone to the head of the line and signed autographs, but I’m just not that kind of guy.

The Comments

Doug Jones

No wonder the Colts won. They have number 58, SocMo Jones playing for them. He is so BUFF! Unfortunately the Titans have Pacman Jones on their team. A total thug… giving us Joneses a bad name. Wanna trade?

Don Jones

I think I read that SocMo was the Colts franchise player this past year. Dennis Jones No. 4 on the other hand was traded… to the Raiders for a Chick-Filet $1 off coupon.

Doug Jones

… that made me laugh out loud… stop it, just stop it…

Don Jones

I bet Dennis went to the gym thinking they were passing out “Trophy Rolls” and coffee. Picked that up from the subliminal message in the blog headline…

Dennis Jones

…mmmm …trophy rolls…

Doug Jones

dang.. made me laugh again. twice in one day. new record.

Doug Jones

Hey… I was totally bummed out when Rob and Amber were eliminated from the Amazing Race last week. In fact, I am STILL bummed about it. Anyone else feel this way?

Don Jones

I missed last week and was surprised they had gone down. From the recap it looked like Rob sort of blew a gasket with that sign deal.

Doug Jones

Rob misspelled a word on the sign… and spelling counted. He never caught it. A very good lesson here for boys and girs… study those spelling words.

Don Jones

Spelling and grammer are so importunt.

Dennis Jones

…man… I buckle down, work non-stop, don’t check the web site for a while and the next thing I know I’m running a fan blog for the Amazing Race… which is fine with me… it was disappointing to see Rob and Amber mixed up in that nuclear bomb drone plane incident and have to be eliminated by Jack Bauer last week, but hey, that kind of thing will happen sometimes…

I seem to be falling into an “only draw the Colts” rut… but I don’t have a problem with that since it has been scientifically proven that they are the best team in the league without question… ever. I still can’t believe Peyton won a Super Bowl last year and his little brother Eli won it the next… what a story.

The Comments

Don Jones

best team ever … except for the ‘69 Chiefs. This guy has some major ‘ceps. woah.

Dennis Jones

…no, I’m sorry Don… a team of renowned football scientists who are much, much smarter than us have reached a consensus on this subject and determined the Colts to be the best team ever… who are we to question their conclusions on this subject? …we must simply accept what they say and act on it as fact…

Don Jones

That is merely “the Man” trying to keep us in our place. We must rise up and with one voice and declare that all Hoosiers and Hicks are football lovers too!

Dennis Jones

…Don… how dare you call into question the consensus opinion of football scientists… every single one in the whole world agrees that the Colts are the best team ever, so it must be true… I believe I even saw something about this on the NFL Channel… if it’s on TV it has to be true…

jeff

on the other hand, the Dallas Plowboys, in double blind testing were the only team to choke on a sack of mini marshmallows..

Dennis Jones

…hmm …well, ok Jeff, I guess you cannot argue with the scientificness of the double blind test…

Doug Jones

Colts?… Colts?… that sounds like it should be a team from Kentucky- horse country. The name SHOULD be the Indy Hoosiers. Then you could go to games and yell… “Hoosier Daddy?”

Jason Bourne

I love to draw football players. Can’t wait for the new season!

Jon Slone

The colts are the greatest! The way football should be played. Best coach! Best wide receivers! And lets not forget……the coolest nnames! Peyton, marvin, Dallas and Fern Blanston! Nobody wraps a bum toe or fills a cup like Fern!

Dennis Jones

Don Jones

If Al says it… then it is so. Just remember, he invented the internets.

Dennis Jones

…now yer thinkin’ right…

How long has this primary voting season been going on anyway? Indiana doesn’t vote until May. Doesn’t anybody want to know what us Hoosiers think about this deal? I not sure there will be anyone left to vote for by then. Lucky for me I’ll still be able to do a write in vote for my candidate… Socmo.

The Comments

Don Jones

This makes me feel like a true American. At the drop of the hanging chad, let the vote countin’ begin …

Doug Jones

I think that donkey has been listening to Hillary… he looks fried!

Don Jones

I had a strawberry/banana smoothie this past Friday … I noticed it came with a rather large straw but thought nothing more of it. I took a big, massive draw on the straw only to be immediately thrown into a painful, “brain-freeze” cranium lock-up. Demo Donk above, knows the feeling.

Jason Bourne

Wow! That is really cool. The flag is vibrant! The elephant looks a little worried.

jeff

Socmo in 2008 has a nice ring to it.. I have a $5.00 campaign contribution and 1 gallon of fabric softener where do I send it??

Dennis Jones

…I believe my brother Doug is Socmo’s official campaign manager… More on the Socmo bandwagon HERE!

ahead in the polls!

Well, I received a surprise birthday dinner yesterday. I walked into the kitchen to find that my underdog candidate, SocMo, was taking Iowa by storm! Since my birthday was the same day as the Iowa caucus, that became the theme for my birthday this year.

As you can see, we had a SocMo cake! An excellent chocolate mint cake is under that special SocMo icing. We had delicious CORN chowder soup with outstanding CORNbread that would make those Iowans weep.

An outstanding day for me… and for our next president of the United States… SocMo!

The Comments

Dennis Jones

…a grassroots movement seems to be forming!

Don Jones

This is fantastic. SocMo icing, Moon Pies… you could’nt ask for anything more Douger. (Except for someone to help you get your pajamas on…)

Roballoo

Douger – an adjective. Hmmm. Will this be the word of the year at the close of 2008?

Don Jones

But the big question I have for SocMo… Does he support change? (A simple setup for some witty comments.)

Dennis Jones

…Doug, are you feeling left out because you didn’t get a new sketchbook for Christmas like Don and I did? …is that why you are boycotting putting comments on your Brother Jones page?…is it? huh? …is it??

Don Jones

Den, maybe we should go together and send Douger a belated b-present… I’ll round up some used copier paper out of the trash and staple it together for a sketchbook … you send him some chewed up golf pencils from Pete’s golf bag.

Dennis Jones

…done and done!

Doug Jones

I am underwhelmed by your thoughfulness! But I have LOTS of sketchbooks that need drawings. I’ll try to get something up here soon…
hang on….

Well, I’ve finally done it… I’ve jumped into the world of film making and I’d like to announce the premier of my first feature length film! …well it’s only 46 seconds long, but I have a pretty short attention span. You can see it here on YouTube.

The Comments

Doug Jones

mega awesomeness dittos…. I liked seeing the progress happen at each stage. Good color on this guy! …and another Swashbuckling belt to hold in the groceries

Don Jones

I am now a charter subscriber to the Dennis Jones YouTube channel. I pass out 5 stars like free money. That music is quite contemplative, reflective… I think I heard it on an elevator.

Dennis Jones

…Doug, one of the Dennis Jones Keys To Good Comedy is to put a big fat belt on everybody…

…Don, the bands Journey, Yes and Boston all found new lead singers by watching guys sing on YouTube, so I decided I better get on YouTube quick, keep my fingers crossed hoping the Doobie Brothers discover me, drop this art gig, and hit the road with them…

Don Jones

hit the road with them… as a roadie! Don’t give up on your Weasel group so fast … there’s still time to gel and write a couple of hits.

W E A S E L – the One Hitless Wonder.

Dennis Jones

…if I could just move closer to Oklahoma City I could strong arm Nick into playing drums, Pete into playing lead guitar, beg you to come play keyboards, I would hold down the bass and WE WOULD hit the road with… WEASELBOYZ!!! THE ONE HITLESS WONDERS!!

Jason Bourne

It’s Little John from Robin Hood. Or so it reminds of, in the Disney animated classic…swanky.

Doug Jones

can I join the band… I have a ukulele and just recently bought an ocarina at a craft fair…

Dennis Jones

…if you can play that Joe Brown song on the uke, you’re in!

Bigonjee Boi

Very inspiring. Reminds me of Hoosiers when they win the championship.

Dennis Jones

…do ya think? …I was afraid my plot line was just a bit thin.

Don Jones

I shop iTunes everyday hoping to pick up that classic WeaselBoy tune “Bit-O-Honey.”

Dennis Jones

…as much as I would like to claim that song, that one’s not mine… that one belonged to Pete…

Jason Bourne

Maybe I’ll be a Weasel Whisperer one day sooner or later…

Jon Slone

Hey Dennis, I need a website. Can you recomend someone good and on the low side? Also, any tips or things I should avoid? I asked you this before and you said to go to blogger.com. But isn’t a blog different from a web page? I may be wrong. I just need a little help. Thanks.

Bernard

Oh my God! Now it’s YouTube….why aren’t you acting OUR age? There is no telling where this could end. Better get out your Ross Fro cuz I can see you at all the Art’s & Craft store openings now! Actually, I’m looking forward to following your fame on tour…saw an old van along the road I might buy and fix up. Yepper! Gonna be a Jones Bros. groupie.

roballoo

Good job on the videos. The colors on this really pop.Great use of the interwebs. Wonder if this will lead to a how-to book deal?

Jason Bourne

Yea, do How-to on YouTube also!

Dennis Jones

Bernard, I dug around and found my Bob Ross wig… still fits great!

Dennis Jones

Jon… up there on the left of my page is a link to “WeaselBoy”… that is a Blogger page… you can put up pictures, you can write stuff… you can probably accomplish whatever it is you want to do for free with it… most web designers charge buckets of money to build web sites… you could figure Blogger out and manage it yourself for free…

Bernard

Jon, Take it from Link ( Mod Squad ) and go ahead and give blogger a try. If nothing else you’ll have something to show someone somewhere until you can get a regular website. I’m actually switching from a website to a blog instead, but then I’m used to going the other way. Aghhh!! Is that a mouse your holding Den? I just saw that!

Dennis Jones

…yes, that picture was from back when I first starting digital painting, I didn’t have a Wacom tablet yet, and I was just using a mouse…

Doug Jones

You wore that mouse down to whiskers… have you worn out a Cintiq pen yet?

Dennis Jones

…yep, I still have that old mouse in a shed out back… sometime I visit Mr. Jingles and watch him do tricks…

Doug Jones

now the official Brother Jones follow up question: …Really?

Bigonjee Boi

i know its not the same, but i have some gerbils you can try out…

Dennis Jones

…rumor has it you’re planning to join WeaselBoy and play lead guitar in the upcoming Awesomeness Dittos Concert Tour…

Bigonjee Boi

…as long as we cover some wham…

Dennis Jones

…we’ll open our concerts with a cover of Careless Whisper…that oughta get the crowd really worked up and ready for a rockin’ show!

Jason Bourne

Yea, rock’em bop’em and soc’em!

Bernard

Lol!

roballoo

Will there be any concert videos of this Wham! tribute band on You Tube?

Dennis Jones

…no, but there will be a table in the back of each concert with WeaselBoy video cassettes and 8-tracks available for purchase…

Mac Artist

Just came across your illustration “Stress-less Parenting” in Enrichment magazine. Been a big fan and great to see you are doing so well. We are at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, surrounded by Ozarkians. However, a native of Hoosier Land and still big a fan of the Colts. Saw your bio on these two lands! Love your illustrations and appreciate all you are doing out there. Great youtube video! Blessings – Jennifer Cook

Don Jones

Den, I put your web address on that illustration you did for Enrichment magazine. Looks like people DO READ the fine print.

NFL Overtime Rules

January 7, 2009

FootballDog

I would like to see the NFL overtime rules revised just a bit. I say keep the sudden death in overtime deal, that’s all good… just add the first team to score 6 wins. Simple! This would keep a team from winning the coin toss, running three plays and kicking a field goal to win. It would not have changed the outcome of the Colts-Chargers game, but if you can’t keep the other team out of the end zone when all the marbles are on the line, you shouldn’t win anyway.

You can see the YouTube video of this picture here.

The Comments

Dennis Jones

Doug Jones

cool! you probably spent more time coloring this than I did drawing it.

Don Jones

NIce mutt! Speaking of dogs gone bad… our beloved Lola jumped the Fed-X man last week and bit his pant leg and held on. Kellie beat her down with the package she just received. (Car keys from Cincy)

Dennis Jones

…man, the fun just keep rolling on in from that Cincinnati trip of yours…

Don Jones

My cell phone was dead so I placed a little call from the motel room to discuss the missing key dilemma. Upon checkout, I was made aware that call cost me $37.

Doug Jones

$37 is what a newspaper will cost ya not long from now…

Bernard

Whoo-Wee! these just keep getting better and better. I’ve only heard arguments for and against the OT dilema…but yours sounds like a reasonable compromise. Dog? I thought this was a failed drug-tested hare?

Zaz

Great dawg Den, compact and looks hard to get through if it was a lines man. OK boys, question of the day…who do you like, the Hoosiers or Gators in tonights BCS Championship game?

Bernard

Well, if “Like” means favorite I’m torn because I have always liked OU growing up but I am without a doubt a Tebo fan so I will be rooting for Florida. If “Like” means who do I think will win then I would say that OU has a slight edge with that O but that they don’t seem to always bring their “A” game to the big stage so…”Florida” It’s never simple for me…because I’m simple.

Bernard

Hey Zaz, you did mean SOONERS instead of Hoosiers did you not?

Dennis Jones

…yup, that hoosier deal Zaz tossed out at us threw me, too… I had to think real hard about who exactly it was that was playing tonight… I’m a Tebo fan, but also have Oklahoma ties… so… I guess I’m just rooting for a good game at this point…

Tim

We mean Tebow not Tebo.

Don Jones

I was thinking of getting Tivo.

Bernard

Dennis, Not counting slim and none, what are the chance$ ( or bribe$ ) of hiring you to paint one of my sketches? 1.) A full color psd or tiff 2.) The above PLUS a YouTube video for my blog (with digital painting credits noted). P.S. Don’t forget my Jones Bros. pheasant discount.

Dennis Jones

…Don, if you get Tivo you could watch Tebo at a later date… very convenient…

…Bernard, I’ve gotta shove anything extracurricular back into late February… well… not bribes… bribes are welcome at any time…

Bernard

Agh, I knew you would be too busy for such foolishness. But PTL your busy cause those heating, food and guitar lessons cost money! where do I send (email) the sketch to ( or do I roll it up and hide it in the secret coffee can, out in the wood shed )?

Zaz

Sorry gents, I ment Sooners my bad, It was a good game last night and I’m happy for Tebow, it’s also great to see what God is doing in his life. Could be a good role model in the future for young people. Can’t wait to see your next drawing, and what the subject will be.

Bernard

no problem Zaz…we knew that “SOONER” or later you would catch it! Lol! Well, it was a great game but don’t forget that ol’ Sam Bradford is quite a young man of integrity and moral fiber too…the boy reads the Bible before every game. It’s a good time for role models in the college game.

Dennis Jones

..hmmm …you don’t HAVE to be a convicted felon to be a good football player?? …I’ve never heard of such a thing…

Doug Jones

Pacman Jones is MY role model. I can’t understand why he has been kicked off his second NFL team…

Don Jones

Speaking of roles, I had a delicious cinnamon roll from Krispy Kreme yesterday. I took my coffee cup in and the lady behind the counter sort of gagged on its degree of filth.

Bernard

Speaking of models, I think they would make great football players. I have quite a few in the attic some finished and others not even opened yet. …there no high like Testor’s Glue high!

Dennis Jones

…check out this (old Brother Jones post) from 2005… two out of the three went on to become famous NFL football felons …I’m not sure whatever happened to that third guy…

Doug Jones

When Bean-ard suggested models would make great football players, I was thinking of the female kind. If that were true, Howie would have a pretty good team on Deal or No Deal. Super bowl contenders, even.

Don Jones

I enjoyed that blast from the past. Since my memory does not serve me well, it was all new to me!

Doug Jones

We can hide our own Easter eggs! life is guud…

Doug Jones

hey… are we up for a new season of 24? anyone?…

Dennis Jones

…I’m polishing up my brass knuckles and looking for terrorists to rough up as we speak…

Doug Jones

…and I am waxing up my waterboard…

Nate

Seen your art for years… are you doing it digitally?  It is truly unique – wonderful concepts… God sure dumped a load of talent on you, guy. Nate

Dennis Jones

…thanks, Nate. This last year in March I bought a Wacom Cintiq and started using it exclusively at that point to produce my work with… everything before then was traditional, brush and gouache work…

…mmmm, PopTarts!

March 10, 2010

PopTarts

…so I decided to treat myself to the delicious goodness of Frosted PopTarts this morning but the toaster decided to fight against me and all I got was a house full of smoke and these two things…

The Comments

Don Jones

WOw! What a big Birthday TREAT! What flavor were those? Are you sure you didn’t insert a couple of barbeque briquets?

Doug Jones

I look at these and my mouth salivates! I bet they would taste really good with a side of coffee pucks.

Zaz

Hey Den…next time try taking them out of the box before zapping them.
Did Karen have any comment regarding your culinary experience?

Dennis Jones

…did not even phase her… she’s been married to me so long that this sort of thing is nothing out of the ordinary…

Doug Jones

This is pretty much how I cook my eggs each morning.

Don Jones

I think those are served down in Louisiana – Blackened Strawberry Pop-Tarts. Them crazy Cajuns … and Hoosiers.

Dennis Jones

…it’s a hoosier take on cajun cooking….

Nik

LOL!!This is greatness!!!

Doug Jones

LOL… that stands for Loopity Loo… right?

Zaz

When I look at these babies I want to break into song….. What’s real yummy and taste good to what has Dennis cooked up for you, Cheese Cake, Carrot Cake, Pop Tarts too order on or maybe two.

Dennis Jones

…if I wasn’t so swamped with work right now I would put those lyrics to music and load it up on my Pure Volume site…

Don Jones
